Jim acted as consultant to the European DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) Project in Geneva, where he wrote and edited many of their technical publications on digital television systems.
He was employed as a consultant to the UK Digital Television Group for some years, and was responsible for the technical editing of the first proposed specification for the UK Digital Terrestrial Television system, ‘Requirements for Interoperability’, colloquially known as ‘The D-Book’.
